JOB
Summary:
Total responsibility for leading the efforts in safety, quality, delivery, continuous improvement and cost containment/reduction in the Logistics/Shipping department.
KEY TASKS &
Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring that all department employees comply with EH&S rules and regulations.
Establish, maintain processes and coordinate activities that improve KPI targets, including on time delivery, cost containment, lowering non-conforming due to loading, etc.
Develop work schedule within the department to achieve shipping requirements and improve productivity.
Manage an accurate inventory of warehouse materials (internal/external)
Work with Customer Service/Transportation to establish most efficient route and mode of shipping finished goods to customers.
Manage off site warehouses.
Ability to develop KPI's to improve customer experience.
Work with Maintenance Department in scheduling maintenance activities.
Capability to manage vehicle fleet and training/certification of employees.
Facilitate in the assistance, justification, and entering of CAPEX projects.
Will have P&L responsibilities for departmental costs.
Interview and select employees to fill department openings per the Job Bidding process.
Evaluate the staff, build a successful team and work with HR to create training development plans for the department.
Prepare, implement and monitor development plans for direct reports to prepare them for future growth opportunities.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with subordinates so that the team adopts the efforts to achieve the established targets and KPI's.
Capable of successfully addressing customer complaints in a timely manner.
Demonstrated logistics ability to effectively transfer material from production to customers in a timely cost efficient manner.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven computer skills to enhance one's ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
Proven problem solving skills to identify opportunities for improvement and develop then implement resolution to the point the issue is eliminated
Demonstrated sense of ownership for an area to the point that constraints are eliminated rather than accepted
Demonstrated success in preparing and presenting improvement proposal with appropriate justification
Ability to further develop subordinates by identifying and fostering growth environment
Effective computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Ability to create effect PowerPoint presentations.
Occasional travel may be necessary.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum three years of distribution management in a similar industry/union environment preferred; or,
More than five years in a management position and distribution experience required.
